BILL DRILL
Explore the list of drills we have cultavated from different professionals from around the world.
PROCEDURE - DRAW, & FIRE 6 ROUNDS AT THE TARGET IN RAPID SUCCESSION.
DISTANCE - 3 YARDS, 5 YARDS, 7 YARDS

At closer ranges, you will see that this drill tests two things primarily. First, your draw is obviously a huge component of your time. You need it to be fast, and you need that draw to end in a correct grip. Second, the bill drill is a test of staying relaxed. If your body tenses up, you lose the ability to draw quickly or to run the trigger fast. Work down to the goal times as quickly as you can, and then work within the goal time to hit the “A” box. You will need to have a highly developed draw to be able to make it happen, so I would recommend working on “Doubles” before you progress to this drill.
PURPOSE -
TIME GOALS - 3YDS 1.7 SECONDS - 5YDS 1.8 SECONDS - 7YDS 2 SECONDS
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 1 USPSA
NO FAIL SHOT
PROCEDURE - COLD START - DRAW & FIRE 1 ROUND 10 TIMES
DISTANCE - 25 YARDS

MAKE THIS THE FIRST DRILL OF EVERY RANGE SESSION.
THIS IS A PASS/FAIL DRILL. IF ALL SHOTS ARE IN THE BLACK YOUR PASS, IF NOT YOU FAIL. MUST BE A COLD START DRILL (AKA NO WARMUPS) & YOU CAN ONLY ATTEMPT THE DRILL ONCE PER DAY. THIS IS AN AMAZING METRIC TO GAUGE ONES PROFICIENCY IN A REALISTIC MANNER. TESTING ONES DRAW, PRESENTATION, SIGHT ACQUISITION, TRIGER CONTROL & PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT, THE ABILITY TO PREFORM ON DEMAND.

TIME REQUIREMENTS - 3.5 SECONDS PER SHOT
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 1 / NRA B8 BULLSEYE
Figure 5
PROCEDURE - 5 "Shooting Markers" will be placed on the ground resembling the #5 on a six-sided dice.
Shooter will start at the center marker. At start the shooter will fire 1 round, run to one of the 4 corners & fire 1 round, then run back to center & fire 1 round. Course of fire ends once the shooter has hit all 4 corners & finishes back on center, firing a total of 9 shots.
DISTANCE - Front 2 Markers 10 Yards - Center Marker 15 YARDS - Rear 2 Markers 20 Yards

This simple drill is one of my favorites due to the fact that it is easy to set up & hits multiple points with a relatively low round count. Draw, Footwork, Transitions, Presentation, Throttling, Speed & Accuracy. Typically, my 2nd drill of any range day just to help get that blood pumping.
PURPOSE -
TIME Goals - Time yourself & improve over time. Under 20sec Goal
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 1 10" Steel Target / 1 NRA B8 BULLSEYE
Forward Assault Drill
PROCEDURE - Start from the holster hands at side at 25-yards. At start, draw and fire two rounds. Advance to the 15-yard line & fire two rounds. Advance to the 7-yard line keeping gun safely in control, fire three rounds. Then fire three more rounds while advancing forward from the 7yd line for a total of 10 shots.

NUMBER OF TARGETS - 1 USPSA
DISTANCE - 25 yards - 15 yards - 7 yards & under
TIME Goals - Time yourself & improve over time. Under 10sec Goal
PURPOSE -
Similar to the Figure 5 drill in that it's very simple to set up, gets the blood pumping, hits multiple training points & requires the user to work on control. Originally designed by Ethan Johns from SWAT magazine, it's a great drill for all skill levels, especially those with limited range space.
Mozambique Drill
PROCEDURE - Start from the holster hands at side. On start, draw from holster & fire 2 rounds to the center A zone of the target. Transition to the head & fire 1 round.
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 1 USPSA
DISTANCE - 7 Yards
TIME Goals - 2 Seconds
PURPOSE -
This is a classic firearm that may actually be the most well known. Both shooters & non shooters may have never heard of Mozambique, but they likely have heard "two to the chest & 1 to the head".
Alone it works on a few different aspects of shooting & is my go-to when working on double taps. Easily modified to fit the shooters needs.

FAST Drill
PROCEDURE - Start from the holster hands at side. On start, draw from holster & fire 2 rounds at the Head A-Zone, preform a slide lock reload & fire 4 rounds into the C.O.M. A-Zone. Any hits outside the designated A-Zones is considered a fail.
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 1 USPSA
DISTANCE - 7 Yards
TIME Goals - 6 Seconds - 4.99 Sec & Under for Expert
PURPOSE -
Designed by Todd Green, this originally was more of a test than a drill that was conducted with an index card for the head box & 8" circle for the C.O.M. A-zone. USPSA targets being very similar in design the test has been ran as a standard drill by many, myself included.

VTAC Tripple Threat
PROCEDURE - Start from the holster hands at side. On start, draw from holster & fire 3 rounds at the center targets C.O.M. A zone. Transition to the pelvis & fire 1 round, then transition to the head & fire 1 round at the A zone.
Transition to the left target and repeat the same firing sequence. Then transition to the right target and repeat the same firing sequence again for a total of 15 shots.
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 3 USPSA
DISTANCE - 7 Yards - Side by side 1 yard apart.
TIME Goals - 7-8 Seconds
PURPOSE -
Putting too much time into training 1-2 shots per target can lead to problems should one have to implement these skills in a real-world event. Shooting to stop the threat is always the goal & this drill does an excellent job at hitting all the vital spots as well as breaking up habits.
EL PRESIDENTE DRILL
PROCEDURE - Begin standing ten yards from the targets with gun holstered, back towards target, and hands raised. At start, turn to face targets, draw, fire two rounds into each target. Reload. Fire two rounds into each target again.
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 3 USPSA
DISTANCE - 10 YARDS
TIME GOALS - 8-10 SECONDS
PURPOSE -
El Presidente” is a shooting drill originally developed by Jeff Cooper when he was training security for a South American president. Not developed for stages using “race” guns to set time records, but rather as a way to gauge overall shooter proficiency. The drill takes into account everything that you would need…movement, draw, reload, and engagement of multiple targets.

THE ACCELERATOR
PROCEDURE - Draw & engage each target with two rounds. Perform a reload & re-engage each target with an additional two rounds.
DISTANCE - 7 YARDS - 15 YARDS - 25 YARDS
NUMBER OF TARGETS - 3 USPSA
TIME GOALS - 6 SECONDS
PURPOSE -
The whole idea here is to be able to seamlessly change gears between targets of different difficultly levels. You should be fast and accurate up close, but take the time you need to get mostly A’s on the longer targets. If your split times are the same at 7 yards as they are at 25 yards, that should tell you something. If you don’t pick up speed as you go from the back target to the front, something is wrong.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
